State-of-the-art analysis

When we visited Tom Tits is was especially one interactive feature that i didn't really understand even though the underlying idea wasn't bad. At the Infrared-camera experiment you could post your picture taken by the camera on your facebook or twitter feed. But it ran a very confusing interface were none of us knew how to post or how to log in. We also thougth that it was kinda scary to log on with your personal account on a public device, what if it malfunctions and you can't log out?

The target group wasn't that broad either, It only works for people who actually has an account at some of these two social medias which is often teenagers and adults. If you are an adult and want to use this feature you have to have time to write everything in there and understand how to do it before eg. the children that you are there with needs your attention.

What made it good:

  • You are able to share your experience via social media
  • Keep a memory of your visit
  • Touch screen always invites you to use it
  • The fact that it is a interactive screen and therefor more interesting than a informationplack
What made it bad:
  • It doesn't really do anything for the experiment, and by that I mean that it has nothing to do with heat-camera experiments
  • The interface was complicated and therefor took a lot of time
  • Very small targetgroup
  • People usually don't want to log on to a public device (we didn't anyways)
  • Higher in maintenance than information placks (may need software updates or restarts)
  • Needs electricity

The screen is in the bottom right corner of the picture.
